At Warren Woods Ecological Field Station, we are inspired not only by the natural world but by the people we live and learn with. The University of Chicago Field Station is dedicated to advancing ecological knowledge, place-based education, and community impact through ecological & social research, community partnerships, and interdisciplinary learning.

Our vision is to be a regional hub for ecological research, education, and collaboration — where UChicago students, faculty, and the broader community come together to advance science, explore the humanities, and cultivate a shared sense of belonging through meaningful engagement and immersive experiences with nature.

The field station is as much about research and inquiry as it is about building relationships and reconnecting to the dynamic and diverse world around us. Please visit and enjoy this place with friends, colleagues, and fellow researchers!

The Warren Woods Ecological Field Station is ideal for professional retreats, casual gatherings, artistic exhibitions, and other special events. UChicago faculty, staff, and students are invited to use the space as a quiet place to work on research and writing, academic projects, club meetings, or community gatherings. Other institutions and organizations are also encouraged to consider the Field Station for future events, workshops, exhibitions, or retreats.
